Best Wedding Season in North India

Weather, availability, and auspicious dates all pull in different directions. Here's how to actually weigh them.

October to February

The classic wedding season

This is peak season across North India for a simple reason: the weather actually cooperates. Post-monsoon skies, cooler evenings, and comfortable daytime temperatures make outdoor functions genuinely pleasant rather than something to plan around.

What to know about peak season

  • Venue and vendor prices tend to run higher — demand is at its peak
  • Popular dates and venues get booked out earliest, sometimes a year or more ahead
  • Top photographers, decorators and makeup artists have the least flexibility on scheduling
  • Weekends and specific auspicious dates within this window are the most competitive of all
March–June & July–September

Off-season trade-offs

  • Generally better rates and more vendor availability, since demand is lower
  • Summer (roughly April–June) brings real heat — outdoor daytime functions need shade, hydration, and cooling arrangements for guest comfort
  • Monsoon (roughly June–September) adds weather risk for outdoor plans — indoor or covered venues become the safer choice
  • Can still work beautifully with the right venue and planning — it's a trade-off, not a downgrade

Shubh Muhurat & auspicious dates

Many families choose their wedding date based on the panchang and an auspicious muhurat, not weather alone. This adds another layer — a handful of specific dates within a season can see extremely high demand all at once, since many families are trying to book the same limited window. If a muhurat date matters to your family, that alone is a reason to lock your venue and key vendors even earlier than usual.

How to choose

Balance three things honestly: how much weather risk you're comfortable with, how flexible your budget is on peak-season pricing, and whether specific auspicious dates matter to your family. There's no universally "right" season — just the one that fits your priorities without surprises.
